While the first phones based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are already starting to hit the market, MediaTek, which already looks like a real rival to Qualcomm, is waiting for the first phones to carry their new flagship Dimensity 9000 processor.
The new processor on paper closes the gap at the top between the two companies, and it is a processor that on paper does not fall short of Qualcomm’s current processor, and even surpasses it, and with a very similar core configuration: single Cortex-X2 core at 3.05 GHz for ultra-high performance, three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.85 GHz for stronger-than-usual performance, and four more Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz for everyday use.
But the company marks a few things in the processor that are supposed to be leaders in their field. One of them is the image and photo processor Imagiq 790 which is an ISP with HDR support that allows 18-bit shooting so that on paper it can support a 320 megapixel camera, and it also supports video shooting on three simultaneous cameras that support HDR. It also features an extremely powerful modem for sub-6Ghz networks that can reach data transfer speeds of 7 GHz / second, as well as 144 Hz refresh rate support for WQHD + or 180 Hz + FHD monitors.
The companies that have already announced that they will be introducing Dimensity 9000-based phones will soon include Oppo with the next generation in the Find X family, Xiaomi with the Redmi K50, and also Vivo and Honor on the way.
