OnePlus has long been working on its first tablet, another category that the company is interested in entering, apart from phones, TVs and headphones. According to recent reports, however, the company is certainly not in a hurry: OnePlus is not expected to address its plans in this area at all as part of the announcement of the OnePlus 10 series, which will take place early next year.

OnePlus will announce its tablet separately, at an event that will probably only take place in the second quarter of 2022. Even then, the plans are modest at this point: the company will introduce only one model of tablet, and will initially market it only in the Chinese and Indian markets.

The company certainly has global plans, as evidenced by the registration of the OnePlus Pad brand name in Europe several months ago, but it is likely that the tablet’s distribution in the West will only take place at a later stage. Nothing is known about the device’s specifications yet, as well as whether the One Plus intends to compete with the most advanced and expensive models from Apple, the category leader, or try with cheaper models.

Oneplus may be waiting for the latest versions of the Android 12 operating system to be released, including a larger-screen interface. Google has already begun a beta trial for such a version called 12L, so it makes sense that One Plus would wait for the development to be completed – and then make the necessary adjustments to transfer that version to its Oxygen OS interface.
