After many rumors, Samsung has introduced the next generation to its mid-range tablet Galaxy Tab A8, which offers an upgrade mainly in terms of performance compared to the Galaxy Tab A7 launched earlier this year.
Thus it comes with a slightly larger 10.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels at a 16:10 TFT ratio, which provides a pixel density of 216ppi. It covers 80% of the front with the dimensions of the tablet slightly increased and its thickness is thinner and stands at 6.9 mm.
The Galaxy Tab A8 processes the Unisoc Tiger T618, which Samsung says is 10% more powerful than the previous-generation Snapdragon 662. It is integrated with 3 or 4 GB of working memory and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. Apart from that there is also a microSD expansion slot up to a capacity of 1 terabyte.
It has a single 8-megapixel camera on the back and another 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It supports WiFi connectivity and will also be offered in a model that supports LTE connectivity. The battery has a capacity of 7,040 mAh with fast charging support at 15 watts and there is also a pair of stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos.
Samsung has also embedded in the Galaxy Tab A8 richer capabilities for utilizing the big screen. With the One UI 3.1 based on Android 12, it will allow screen splitting to work on two apps simultaneously, or the ‘drag and drop’ feature that will allow you to automatically open a secondary browser window next to the main window for easier browsing.
In the US and select markets, Samsung will also launch the Samsung TV Plus service, which will offer 200 free-to-watch TV stations along with live streaming programs as well as a two-month free YouTube premium service. There is also a model adapted for children with a colorful interface and parenting ability.
